It was 9am, and the ferry was well on it's way across the Channel to France. There was no more land visible before us and we, Emily and I, just leant against a railing, talked and laughed and talked some more, whilst the sea breeze brushed our clothes and faces and gave  us goosebumps, and played with our hair. Often-times the wind was not as kind as we'd have hoped it to be, when it came to our hair. Emily was quite lucky- her hair was up in a pretty ponytail and so the breeze didn't do much to her, it simply rearranged her fringe slightly. My hair, however, was down- all nicely brushed, completely knot-free, shiny and soft- and, although over the years, I've come to realise that the wind generally has no regard for how one looks or any fashion of the sort, and that it merely does as it knows to do (which is obviously to be windy and blow things in one  direction or another). Now, I never seem to learn from those experiences, and I always tend to have my hair down during times of snow, wind, and rain (I don't think there's another element that's nature involves something that can seriously mess up your hair?), and so, of course, my hair went everywhere! I tried to tame it and put it up, but, in the end, I just gave up. Let's just say, when we finally ventured back into the ferry, I looked... interesting, haha. :) The sun was warm and bright, cutting through the clouds and sitting on the horizon. To pass the time, we went to the cinema and watched a favourite of ours, Tangled, and then we had some delicious food, before we went back out to watch the water and see France grow bigger and bigger and we got closer and closer. I wish I'd taken a photo of what I had for lunch- it was delicious! I had a plate of pasta with pesto and parmesan cheese and then a French strawberry tart, for dessert :) it was beautiful... I'm actually getting quite hungry at the thought of it! Anyway, once we arrived in Normandy, we had to wait a little while in the car before we could drive out of the ferry and begin the second part of our journey to Brittany, for our camp-site in Cabellou. As we drove, I read and listened to music and just gazed out of the window at the passing views of rich fields and farmland and just felt the excitement grow more and more as we got nearer to the end of our journey. We reached the camp-site at about 9pm-ish and then had to help Grandad set up the camper and then get ready for bed. I think it's safe to say, we all slept well that night! :) xxx

It was 9pm and Emily and I had arrived at our grandparents house, ready for the day of travelling ahead of us. I took the last few moments before our early night to take a few pictures of the sunset that had licked its warm, pink-orange light lovingly over the river and onto my skin and had begun to fade into a cool, purple-hued evening sky. The reflections of the soft clouds in the water made the water ethereal and beautiful and the pair of swans gliding casually along the surface added an element of magic and fairytale to the evening. It was as if they were sailing over a wondrous other-world, just beneath ours, that was coming to life as ours faded into a quiet slumber-state and I was the only one lucky enough to catch those hazy glimpses of it. It made my imagination buzz and buzz and I welcomed sleep gladly, inviting lovely dreams to guide me into the early hours of tomorrow. For tomorrow, we'd all journey to Portsmouth, board a ferry and sail the Channel over to Normandy, before driving for hours and hours, all the way down to Concarneau (our final destination), whizzing past fields and farms and all things French. The anticipation and excitement was fizzing at our fingertips and eyelashes. :)

Hello! How are you all today? Having a good week so far? I hope so :) Okay, let me get to the point. This has been a long time in the running and I've finally got holiday-related posts to share with you all. So! Prepare for the spam that is 15 days worth of pictures and little stories that I collected during our holiday in Concarneau (or, to be more precise, Cabellou) at the beginning of August. I hope you like them all... :) and I hope I don't bore you all too much with everything. I have so many photos to share with you all, so I may post them without a little paragraph or story to go with it for a little while, and then go back to them at a later date- but I'm sure the pictures will tell you a little bit of what happened during that day! These are extremely belated posts, as I'd wanted to get them all done before I moved down to Swansea for uni, but alas, time got away from me, and so, almost four months after the event, I have finally got around to sorting through them all and I've nearly finished, et voilĂ ! Here are 15 days, 3,000+ photos, instax and (too many) rolls of film, all summed up and condensed down into a dozen and a bit blogposts. Hopefully, I'll do them justice- I'm not always very good at putting all of my thoughts into words but fingers crossed, it'll be okay! Well, I hope that you're all happy and well, whoever you may be :)

Lots of love,
Mari-ann xxx

New Years Day- 1.1.11.

I just found these photos that I took at midnight on New Years Day this year! :) I completely forgot about them- I mean they're aren't anything phenomenally interesting but still, they're something that marked a new beginning, a new year, a fresh start. So, almost 11 months after taking them, here I am sharing them with you :) haha! I don't really know where the areas of colour came from really, they just appeared in the photo when the flash went off, so who knows... but nevertheless I like them! Hope you like them too, and that you're happy and well :)

Lots of love,
Mari-ann xxx

p.s. Get ready for a super-duper spam of pictures that I took this summer that I've finally finished sorting through! There will be lots and lots and lots of photos to look at, so, fingers crossed, they're to your liking! ♥ :)
